Encoded
Through processes of imprinting, translation, and repetition, found objects are transformed into abstract signs that hover between artifact, language, and image. Removed from their original function and context, the objects lose immediate recognisability and begin to suggest symbolic systems or coded forms. Found objects recur throughout the work as carriers of trace, memory, and encoded meaning, retaining residual traces of texture, form, and use.
In this series of clay tablets, impressions of found objects evoke unknown scripts awaiting decipherment. Referencing early systems of writing — including hieroglyphs, runes, and the ancient Irish Ogham script — the works explore the relationship between material presence, interpretation, and the construction of meaning.
