Wild Atlantic Artefact
Wild Atlantic Artefact is a series of sculptures based on plastic bottles found along Ireland’s Atlantic coastline. Shaped by salt, wind, waves and time, these discarded objects reveal unexpected sculptural qualities: eroded surfaces, compressed forms and clusters of barnacles attached during their journey at sea.
The bottles are translated into ceramic, preserving the fragile details formed through exposure to the elements. These ceramic reproductions are subsequently cast in bronze, transforming temporary disposable objects into enduring artefacts. Through this material shift, objects associated with pollution and disposability become relic-like forms that carry traces of movement, erosion and human presence.
The works move between documentation and imagination. Removed from their original function and context, the bottles invite reflection on origin, travel, time and the forces that continue to shape both landscape and material.
